The Meadowood Metropolitan District
Overview
Meadowood is managed by two organizations: the Meadowoood Home Owners Association (HOA), and the Meadowood Metropolitan District (MMD). This website serves both organizations. Both Boards meet monthly on the second Wednesday of each month at 4:00 PM via Zoom. The Annual meeting of the MMD is held mid-August each year. The MMD is responsible for the maintenance of our roads, common areas, tennis courts and ponds. MMD fees are collected as a line item on property owners' county tax bills.
The MMD was formed in 2008 for many reasons, including - but not limited to - financing critical infrastructure projects. These projects were financed through the sale of bonds. The capital projects included upgrading our water delivery system, repaving roads and improving roadway drainage, improvements to open space, tennis courts and the pond. Other infrastructure improvements were also included, such as conduits under our roads for cable tv, phone, electricity and empty conduits for future needs.
The service area boundaries are the same as the Meadowood subdivision boundaries, with the addition of Meadowood Drive in front of the Aspen Chapel. MMD is wholly contained within Pitkin County. Click to open a map of the Meadowood Metro District Service Area.
Finances
The MMD fiscal year is the same as the calendar year. The current fiscal year is January 2026 - December 2026. The MMD currently has no debt.
Membership and the Board of Directors
The right to vote (or serve as an officer) in MMD elections is more complicated than membership in the HOA. MMD qualifications rely on a combination of several factors including: where you are registered to vote (must be Colorado), the type of your property's ownership (Personal, Trust, LLC, etc), and whether your primary residence is in Meadowood or elsewhere. The MMD is governed by the rules of the Colorado Special District Act. Consult your attorney for more information.
